The thing that makes this slate stand out is its screen. It has been provided with a 7.7 inch Super AMOLED Capacitive touch screen with WXGA resolution of 1280*800 pixels(same as the Galaxy Note). The screen is the best one that Samsung have used so far in tablets and is currently second league only to the newly announced i-Pad 3 which has an unbelievable resolution of 2048*1536 pixels.
Hardware is not that inferior either. It is powered with a dual core Exynos 1.4 GHz ARM based Cortex-A9 processor. Looking at the size of the thing, it is quite startling how a dual core chip and the 5,100 mAh battery can be stuffed into the 7.9 mm thick tablet. Talking about the memory, Galaxy Tab 7.7 enjoys a spacious 16 GB(also available in 32 and 64 GB, by the way). It also has 1 GB RAM. So, there ought to be no lags in the device. Although, some lags have been noticed. This may be due to the OS (Honeycomb) but nothing much serious. Moreover, an ICS update is expected in the future.
It houses a 3.2 MP rear camera and a 2 MP front camera for video calling. I am personally not a big fan of the rear camera in the tablets but a front camera is something appreciable. The camera is capable of recording videos up to 720p. For dim light operations, the camera is supported with an LED flash.
Overall, the Galaxy Tab is a pretty good device with some good features and is a worthy upgrade to the Galaxy Tab 7 launched almost an year ago. The device stands out for its Super brilliant screen which is the best offered by Samsung so far. Other features include the new Touchwiz UX UI which has also been used in the Galaxy Note.
