SAMSUNG S PLUS is another Android equipped high-end device and is the modified version of the GALAXY S which in itself was a great set. The phone is certainly an upgrade to the GALAXY S but lies below the S-II in terms of its specs and features. S PLUS certainly lives up to the name of the S Series.
The phone has a sleek and stylish body with perfectly crafted curves which makes the phone fit nicely in the hand. S PLUS seems almost exactly like the GALAXY S and gives a nostalgic feeling if you have used the GALAXY S. The screen is also the same in both the sets. It also has a 480*800 Super AMOLED 4" Capacitive touch screen.
The phone is running Android v2.3(Gingerbread) which is an upgrade from the previous version. GALAXY S had Eclair installed in it, although it was upgradeable to Gingerbread but here it comes pre-installed with the phone. The OS runs nicely and provides a good interface with the Touchwiz 3.0 .The skin of the phone is modified but if you want the original Android look, you can download the app from the Android market.
The processor is one of its biggest improvements. The GALAXY S has a 1 GHz Qualcomm chip whereas S PLUS has a 1.4 GHz snapdragon chip. The phone runs beautifully and there is no lag or any other speed related problem in the set. The RAM has been kept the same as the GALAXY S at 512 MB. S PLUS has been provided with a more powerful battery than the GALAXY S. Where the GALAXY S was equipped with 1500 mAh battery, it has been upgraded in S PLUS to 1650 mAh.
The camera kept the same as the GALAXY S at 5 MP. The pics are decent and the phone is capable of shooting videos up to 720p. The phone also possesses a front camera for video calling.
The data speeds have also been upgraded in the S PLUS. S PLUS is almost double the speed of its predecessor. Internet simply breezes in this phone and you don't have to wait for the pages to load. Full pages can be opened instead of only the mobile version in the S PLUS.
Overall, the phone is a worthy update of the GALAXY S with some very good upgrades both in software and hardware. The body of S PLUS is identical to the GALAXY S, so if you want to try a NEW phone, this might disappoint you due to its repetitive design.But if you want this to be your first S Series mobile and are able to loosen your pockets a bit, this phone can be a charming experience for you. The phone is definitely worth its price.
