First of all, coming to the looks. It is not one of the greatest in terms of its body design. It has been given a plastic body instead of a metallic casing just like in its predecessor, the S II. This might be a little annoying for some of the customers who like their phone to feel luxurious and classy. The phone doesn't have a glossy finish but its outlook can certainly be ignored if you take a look at the hardware used in it.
S III has been powered with a quad-core 1.4 GHz Cortex A9 processor. It has also been provided with 1 GHz of RAM. There is also a microSD card slot which can boost its memory upto 64 GB. S III comes in three models having Internal memory of upto 16/32/64 GB. It is an upgrade over the S-II which had only 32 GB of expandable memory. The display of the phone is also quite brilliant. It has been provided with a Super AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1280*720 pixels packed in its 4.8 inch screen (about 306 ppi) giving the screen great detail and clarity. It is one of the main improvements to have taken place in the S III from S II which had a resolution of 480*800 pixels.
Camera is primarily the same as the S II. It carries an 8 MP rear camera and a 2 MP front camera. Although, some of the features have been added to the camera app. The dual shutter technology which enables you to shoot video and take pics simultaneously (a feature introduced by HTC) has been introduced in Samsung handsets. The front camera has been provided with face detection-a feature that keeps the display from dimming or going off if you are looking at it.The battery of the phone has also been upgraded from that used in S II. It runs on a 2100mAh battery while the S II had only 1650 mAh of battery. So, the talktime and standby time is bound to be better.
It has been provided with the latest version of Android, the Ice Cream Sandwich. It also contains the latest version of Samsung's UI, Touchwiz 4.0. Some of the features introduced in the S III include S-Voice natural language commands and dictation, Smart Stay eye tracking, Dropbox (50 GB storage) which is 25 GB in HTC One X. Also, it has been equipped with Bluetooth 4.0. It is one of the first devices to have Bluetooth 4.0.
Overall, this phone is certainly an upgrade to the S II, especially with the new screen, the ICS, Bluetooth 4.0 and many other features. It has not yet arrived in the market but it would be interesting to see the success of this phone considering it doesn.t inherit the looks from its predecessor, the Galaxy S II. The phone is expected to be in the market within a week or two and is expected to be priced around $750 at the start.
