Aakash was just the student version and had a lot of limitations (some were quite serious as well),, but Datawind have put more work and come up with the Ubislate 7+. It still is a very basic device and no match to the I-Pad or the Galaxy Tab but good deal for someone who desires a tablet for a small price. Let's compare the Aakash and the Ubislate 7+ versions....
First of all, talking about the processor, it has a 700 MHz processor which is an improvement over the Aakash which had only 366 MHz.So, there is a clear improvement in the speeds of the tablet but still is a bit less as compared to 1 GHz+ monster chips but you will have to compromise for such a low price. It also has a resistive screen like the Aakash and size of the screen is also pretty much the same.
Now talking about the OS, it is loaded with Android v2.3(Gingerbread) which is an upgrade to the Aakash's 2.2(Froyo). OS is pretty decent and is one of the highlights of the tablet. The battery is also another noticeable upgrade in the tablet. Aakash had only 2100 mAh while Ubislate 7+ has 3200 mAh battery meaning more battery backup.
It also has SIM card support which was missing from Aakash tablet which is one of the best things in Ubislate 7+.Overall, it is a clear upgrade over the Aakash tablet with much better features and configurations than Aakash tablet. This commercial version is still open for bookings and is a big hit.
