It is thinner than the previous version but the robustness and the ruggedness in the construction of the device still remains. The screen is the same as the I-Pad with exactly the same resolution of 768*1024 pixels. The pixel density was an issue in the I-Pad and it still remains one in the I-Pad 2.
Coming to the hardware, it is powered with dual core 1 GHz chip which is an upgrade over the I GHz processor of the I-Pad. The speeds are amazingly fast and the Touch is also quite responsive. The main attraction of the I-Pad 2 is the presence of the 2 cameras in the device. Although, the quality of the camera is not that great but it still is a handy app to have in your possession. I personally think that camera is a totally waste feature in the I-Pad 2. Imagine yourself clicking photos and shooting videos via a 10 inch(diagonal) board.
The software is almost the same as the I-Pad. It has the same iOS 4 which is upgradeable to iOS 5. Another very special attraction of the device is the SIM card compatibility. I-Pad did not have it but the I-Pad 2 has the SIM functionality. This feature is surely something APPLE should be proud of.
Overall, the I-Pad 2 lies somewhere in between a high-end smartphone and a digital camera. The device is a fantastic upgrade of the amazing I-Pad. For hardcore APPLE fans, it is definitely a must have.
