Coming to the review, the phone is absolutely brilliant in terms of its looks. XPERIA ARC S, like XPERIA ARC, enjoys a very attractive body with smooth curves which give a luxurious feel to the phone and fits comfortably in the hands. XPERIA ARC S is one of the best built sets in the market presently.
The screen of the ARC S is also quite good. The set is provided with a 4.2" LED back-lit LCD screen with a resolution of 480*854 pixels. Although, its not a super AMOLED display but the quality looked quite magnificent. There was no pixelation and the touch was also quite responsive.
The phone is running on Android v.2.3.5(Gingerbread) which is quite a surprise as the Ice Cram Sandwich, the latest version of Android was expected in the ARC S. Gingerbread runs nicely on the phone and along with SONY ERICSSON's Timescape UI, the modified Android looks pretty nice and attractive.
The phone is powered with a 1.4 GHz chip which blesses it with blazing speeds. The performance of the set is very good and Android runs smoothly on the phone. The phone also has 512 MB RAM, same as that of the ARC, so the phone runs beautifully without any lags.
SONY ERICSSON is renowned for its good quality cameras and they have delivered in this set as well. The 8 MP camera at the back of the phone is quite good. Quality of the pics is good and along with an LED flash, shots in low-light also look quite magnificent. The camera is also capable of shooting videos up to 720p. There is no secondary camera in the phone. Well, they thought that the cost of the phone is already quite high.
Overall, ARC S is a worthy successor to the ARC. ARC S has all the features to be called as a high-end smartphone along with a high price. The phone has a few cons such as lack of a dual core chip which is provided in the handsets falling in the same price category such as the S-II and I-Phone 4S. If you look over its shortcomings and a high price tag, it is one of the sexiest sets in the market presently.
