The phone has been provided a mediocre quality TFT Capacitive touch screen with a resolution of 320*480 pixels. The resolution is certainly better than the wildfire but it can recognize only 256K colors whereas Wildfire was capable of distinguishing between 16M colors. The size of the screen has been kept the same at 3.2 inches.
The hardware has also been upgraded. It is powered with a 600 MHz chip whereas Wildfire consisted of a 528 MHz processor. But in the generation of 1 GHz mobile sets, 600 MHz just doesn't cut it. The phone is a bit jarry and the touch shows some lag occasionally.
Wildfire-S is running on Android v.2.3(Gingerbread) and along with HTC Sense user interface, Wildfire has no problems regarding software but the 600 MHz processor is not enough to unleash the full potential of Android.
Camera is not that flash either. It has been provided with a 5 MP camera also capable of shooting videos up to 24 fps. Wildfire has an additional feature of face detection which was missing from Wildfire. The pics are of average quality and in the age of mobile cameras above 8 MP, 5 MP seems a little less. It doesn't have a secondary camera either.
Overall, the Wildfire-S is certainly an upgrade over the Wildfire but it lags in some areas such as the screen and a slow processor. But if you can ignore some of its deficiencies, this is a pretty decent phone with a large of features.
