The design of the DROID is one of its biggest accomplishments. The phone has a very stylish and slim architecture. With thickness of just 7.1 mm, this phone is one of the slimmest available in the market. The curves and a textured back make this phone fit comfortably in the hand, although some have to use even both hands considering the size of the phone. The back cover is made of Kevlar, a funny innovation from Motorola's side. They might have designed this set to withstand falls and shocks, but who will fire bullets on a phone!!!
It is provided with a Super Super AMOLED capacitive touch screen with 540*960 pixel resolution. The display of the set is one of the cons that this phone possesses. The pixel density is not that great and text seems to feel shabby at times. From the point of multimedia, the screen is perfect. The colors seem perfect and the phone gives a memorable multimedia experience.
The phone is running on 1.2 GHz processor and contains 1 GB RAM, which grants this phone amazingly fast speeds along with a very smooth and responsive touch which functions without any lags whatsoever. The configurations of DROID are comparable to the NEXUS, which removes any doubts about the amount of power this phone contains.
The phone runs on Android v 2.3.5(Gingerbread). The OS runs smoothly on the dual core chip and there are literally no problems regarding crashes or hangs in the phone. The interface is also quite attractive. Gingerbread installed in this phone is upgradable to its latest version, Ice Cream Sandwich.
The camera of the phone is quite good with 8 MP resolution along with an LED flash. The shutter lag in the phone is quite less as well. The pics taken by the phone look quite decent but become pixelated after zoomed in a bit.It is also capable of recording videos up to 1080p at 30 fps. It also possesses a 1.3 MP secondary camera for video calling which is also capable of recording 720p videos.
Overall, this is quite a reincarnation of once a big hit, MOTOROLA RAZR. The phone belongs to the higher side of the high-end phones section of the market which is quite visible from its configurations and the price tag attached to it. Neglecting some of the blemishes of the phone concerning its display, the phone is quite excellent and worthy of such a high price tag.
