Well, arrival of Galaxy Note has given birth for a new ‘large smartphone market’. Recently, Lenovo has announced a 5-inch competitor to the Note, dubbed LePad S2005. As per analysts, many more companies are to roll out the mid size gadgets in future. Anyway, here we list down some points that will attract you to Galaxy Note and some points that will divert you from it.
Things you may love
Large display: Galaxy Note sports a 5.3-inch AMOLED HD screen with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. Well, it is the biggest feature you get with the Note. The display offers 180°viewing, meaning that it is great for e-book reading, PowerPoint presentations, movie watching, gaming and many others.
8MP HD rear camera: The Note comes up with an advanced 8-megapixel rear camera. The camera can capture 1080p HD videos and high quality images, which can be printed in 4” x 6” sizes. The device can be used as a digital camera to take images and to share them with friends on Facebook with a high speed internet connection. Watching images and slideshows is also quite comfortable on the Note with its large display.
Fast dual-core processor: Galaxy Note is powered by a fast 1.4 GHz dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 SoC processor with Samsung Exynos 4210 chipset. The high performance processor will attract customers towards the device. All your activities on the device will work faster thanks to the advanced processor.
S-Pen input device: The Note comes with a digitizer pen, called S-Pen. The stylus has a pressure sensitivity feature that brings to you a real-pen like experience while writing with the S-Pen. The stylus works superb with an app called S-Memo, which comes preinstalled in the device. The app can record notes that you make with S-Pen, which you can use to write texts and draw sketches, pictures, graphics etc.
Android 2.3 Gingerbread: The device plays on Android 2.3 Gingerbread. This version of Android works smoothly on the Note. You can have an exalted experience with the Note thanks to its Gingerbread feature. Gingerbread is actually a smartphone friendly version of the mobile OS; but its works nicely on small tablets, though.
Things you may hate
Large size: As long as you feel happy with the 5.3-inch screen of the Note, the device is a large product as well. In other words, the Note is an un-pocketable smartphone. With the dimensions of 145.8 x 82.95 x 9.65 mm and weight of 178 grams, Galaxy Note is not an easily portable device. Most of the time, you will have to carry it in your backpack instead of pockets while on–the-go.
Too small to function as a tablet: As it is not a portable smartphone, Galaxy Note is also not a full functioning tablet PC. With a small display and body, you won’t be able to use the Note as a complete tablet PC. Most of tablet purposes like e-reading, video watching and gaming don’t work great on the Note.
S Pen functionality is not smoother: The celebrated S-Pen of Galaxy Note does not work smoother on the device. You will feel fed up with the digitizer because of its slow response to your activities.
What others say?
Let us listen to the words of Sandra Vogel of ZDnet on Galaxy Note,
“The screen is large, vibrant and responsive, and the device is a good size for using ‘notepad style’ with the S Pen. However, in everyday use the Galaxy Note turned out to be neither fish nor fowl. It’s too large to carry around as an everyday smartphone, but isn’t as useful at home or in the office as a full-sized tablet.”
Wrap-up
great experience with this phone.
